Biographies

The following are condensed biographic sketches of five of us.


Rosario Crane, Ph.D.
Rosario Crane, Ph.D.
Dr. Rosario Crane founded the Tampa Psychotherapy Group with the vision of developing a state-of-the-art practice group to provide comprehensive consultation and psychotherapy for the Tampa Bay community. Dr. Crane offers consultation and psychotherapy to adults and children who experience depression and anxiety, including phobias, panic disorders, stress and post traumatic stress. She also works with couples seeking consultation with parenting and relationships and also with children experiencing behavioral or academic problems. She is trained in the methods of EMDR and hypnotherapy, which can be used to complement her therapeutic approach. Dr. Crane earned her PhD degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Florida and completed a clinical internship and fellowship through Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Barbara Cook, Ph.D., LCSW
Dr. Cook is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified clinical sexologist specializing in psychotherapy and all areas of sex therapy with individuals and couples. Her areas of interest are sex addiction, low desire, sex abuse, sexual pain, premature ejaculation, erectille dysfunction, depressiion, anxiety, and PTSD. Therapies include EMDR and hypnotherapy. Dr. Cook earned her MA from University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky and her doctorate in clinical sexology from Maimonides University, Miami, Fl.

Christopher Iler, Psy.D.
Born and raised in Tampa, Dr. Iler is a graduate of the University of Florida and received his doctorate in clinical psychology, with a concentration in child/adolescent therapy and assessment from the Florida School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Iler completed his postdoctoral work within the Hillsborough County School System, providing both therapeutic and assessment services. Through his private practice, Dr. Iler continues to provide comprehensive psychoeducational and behavioral/emotional evaluations in order to aid in both diagnosis and school placement. In addition to psychological testing, Dr. Iler’s private practice offers therapeutic services for children, adults and families in addressing a variety of behavioral and emotional needs, as well as parenting services.
Teresa M. Picciocchi, Psy.D.
Dr. Picciocchi is a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of adolescents and adults. Her areas of interest include mood disorders, ADHD, life satisfaction difficulties, grief, academic issues (including college adjustment), sexual orientation and relationship concerns. Dr. Picciocchi's therapeutic approach is eclectic but centered around providing supportive, solution-focused treatment using an array of interventions, including those based in Positive Psychology. Her patients describe her as insightful, funny, and empathic. Dr. Picciocchi earned her MA in general psychology from the University of Richmond and her doctorate in clinical psychology from Florida Institute of Technology School of Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston/ San Antonio, Texas. In collaboration with her colleagues, Dr. Picciocchi designed this website and regularly updates the material represented within it. She warmly welcomes your feedback on it.

John Douglas Uzzell, Ph.D.
John Douglas Uzzell, Ph.D.
Dr. Douglas Uzzell, a Mental Health Counselor licensed in Florida (1990), practices mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy with individuals, families, and groups. A Certified Addictions Professional (CAP 1994) and Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC 1994), he works with self-destructive compulsive behaviors and other stress- and fear-based disorders: anxiety, panic, post traumatic stress (combat and non-combat), and depression. Post Doctoral and continuing studies have emphasized human development, family therapy, hypnotherapy, and the neuroscience of psychotherapy and human relationships. His overall clinical approach is strongly influenced by years of teaching and field research in psychological anthropology (PhD, University of Texas–Austin, 1972) in Peru, Mexico and the United States.
